- Permission Setting Rules
- A green check mark exclusively allows permission to the selected item.
- A red x exclusively denies permission to the selected item.
- An open unchecked box simply inherits from the parent permission or has no permission by default.

- Menu based permissions control what a user can do on a specific menu

- Role based permissions control what a user can do based on their role (i.e. Student/Instructor)

- Permission inheritance is passed down from the parent menu (i.e.Dashboard and documents inherit from M3)

- Permissions are set at the most specific layer (i.e. if you allow permission to Dashboard:Edit, but deny Dashboard>Calendar:Edit, the permission to edit the calendar will be denied
